Creating content – and good-quality content – is consistently one of the biggest challenges for any business or creator. There is a constant pressure to show up everywhere, all the time with new, engaging material. And it can be utterly exhausting – especially if you’re working with limited time or a small team.
But if you’ve got a blog, you’re actually sitting on a goldmine of content that has already been created. One well-written blog post contains far more content than the blog post itself. With a bit of creative thinking, a single article can fuel your social media, your email list and even your video strategy for weeks.
Here’s how you can do it.
Start With A Blog Post Worth Repurposing
Not every blog can be repurposed, and that’s fine. The ones that work best are the ones that are relevant beyond the week they were published while being substantive enough to have real depth.
A listicle or a how-to guide covering a topic that your audience cares about is usually ideal. If the post has strong sections with useful information and clear takeaways, you’ve got plenty to work with.
Turn It Into A Carousel
Carousels perform exceptionally well on LinkedIn and Instagram because they’re interactive and easy to consume. Take the key points from your blog post and turn them into a simple slide-by-slide format with clean visuals and short, punchy text.
Tools like Canva make this very straightforward, even if you’re not a designer. A ten-point blog post practically writes the carousel for you.
Break It Into A Social Media Series
Most blog posts have multiple key points or sections. Each one of those is a standalone social media post. A ten-section article can become ten individual posts spread over a week or two.
Add a short intro, pull the key insight, and write it natively for the platform you’re posting on. Bear in mind that each platform has its own tone and format, so rather adapt to each one instead of just copying and pasting.
Create A Quote Graphic
Go through the post and pull out two or three sentences that are particularly punchy, quotable, or shareable. Drop them into a simple branded graphic template – again, Canva is your friend here.
Then you’ve got a ready-made visual to share on Instagram, LinkedIn or even Pinterest. These tend to perform well because they’re both easy to consume and share.
Record A Short Video
Pick the single most valuable insight from the article and talk about it on camera for sixty to ninety seconds. And no, you don’t need a fancy setup or equipment to be able to do this. Then you’ve got yourself an Instagram reel, TikTok or YouTube short.
Alternatively, record a slightly longer talking-head video walking through the full post for YouTube or LinkedIn video.
Record A Podcast Episode
If you have a podcast, or plan on starting one, your blog post is a ready-made episode. Use it as the basis for a solo episode where you expand on the ideas, share personal examples, and go deeper than the written version does.
If you don’t have one, you can record a short audio clip summarising the key takeaways and share it on platforms that support audio content. It’s one of the easiest low-effort ways to reach people who prefer listening over reading.
Send It As A Newsletter
Your email list deserves content too and not everything you send needs to be written from scratch. Adapt the blog into a newsletter by making a conversational version written as if you were talking directly to your subscribers.
Add a personal note at the top, pull out the highlights, and link back to the full post for anyone who wants to go deeper.
Write An X Thread
Long-form threads are one of the best-performing content formats on X, and a blog post is the perfect source material. Start with a hook that captures the core premise of the article, then break each key point into its own tweet.
You can end it with a call-to-action, whether it be a link to the full post, asking a question or inviting people to share their own experience.
Turn It Into An Infographic
Blog posts that are how-to guides, process breakdowns or statistic-heavy can make great infographics. Pull out the key steps, statistics, or framework from the post and visualise it.
Infographics are highly shareable, perform well on Pinterest, and often get used by other sites as reference material, which can earn you backlinks in the process.
Create A Downloadable Resource
If your blog post is a guide, a checklist, or a framework, consider turning it into a downloadable PDF. Tidy it up, add your branding and offer it as a lead magnet on your website or landing page.
Packaging it as a resource adds perceived value and gives you something tangible to promote across your channels. It’s also an effective way to grow your email list.
Pitch It As A Guest Post
The ideas and insights in your blog post don’t have to live only on your own site. Use the post as the foundation for a guest article pitched to a publication your audience reads, or as a contribution to an industry newsletter.
This extends your reach significantly and often earns you backlinks and credibility in the process.
